Dhokra
Dhokra is a type of handwoven jute rope widely used in Uttar and Dakshin Dinajpur. The weaving is done on home-based, backstrap looms. Popularly known as the 'Golden Fibre’, the raw material is obtained from locally grown shrubs, known as Paat. The fibres are shredded to obtain thin strands, which are then dyed and dried to make biodegradable products.
